Programme Director - Strategic Capital Programmes

Key responsibilities

  • As Programme Director you will be responsible for leading teams managing and co-ordinating the delivery of capital programmes such as estates regeneration, schools, new housing, accommodation and community programmes
  • You will support Lambeth's ethos as a collaborative council working closely with staff, councilors, partners and third party providers as well as engaging and winning the trust of local residents
  • To ensure all projects meet a consistently high standard and are within deadline and budget
  • Create better services from the start through innovation, intervention and partnership and resident involvement thus reducing the demands on the council

Experience needed

  • You will have substantial experience in a senior management role within development/construction/regeneration for buildings in an urban environment as well as a relevant professional/management qualification
  • Successful track record in strategic direction, people management and leadership within an organization of a similar size and complexity
  • Politically aware, good track record in delivering programmes
  • You will need to be a collaborative, diplomatic and organised project manager

Delivery Lead - Transport Strategy

Key Responsibilities

  • As our Delivery Lead for Transport Strategy you will have overall responsibility for providing strategic analysis and robust advice on high profile Transport issues
  • Deliver our citizen and community-focused programmes
  • Apply sound financial and resource management processes and procedures across all operations
  • Ensure Lambeth meets its statutory, non statutory and regulatory responsibilities as well as meeting responsibilities to local people
  • Manage service level agreements for day to day operations to ensure highest level of service
  • Implement operational plans to manage risk and ensure our activities deliver the political objectives and priorities of Lambeth.
  • Create inclusive and good relationships with citizens and communities to ensure that any customer issues are dealt with quickly and effectively.

Key Requirements

Capital Programme Manager

Key responsibilities

  • As Capital Programme Manager, you'll have the opportunity to lead, manage, co-ordinate and deliver groundbreaking projects in Lambeth including schools, new housing, estates and community programmes
  • Each project will need to be delivered to the highest standard, on time and within budget
  • You'll be working closely with contractors, consultants and the community to spearhead these projects with potentially a capital expenditure budget of £100m
  • Uphold our citizen-centred approach by engaging on equal terms with business leaders, headteachers, chairs of governing bodies and directors of architect practices. This includes chairing residents meetings
  • Show an ability to work collaboratively with elected members, commissioners, partners and service-users to develop and deliver a range of capital investment projects that support Lambeth's goals

  • As our Delivery Lead for Regeneration you will take on an ambassadorial role, championing the strategic development, design, management and implementation of a high profile, high quality and high value regeneration programme
  • You'll be driving sustainable improvement and long-term economic prosperity, promoting investment while working with developers and the local community
  • Deliver our citizen and community-focused programmes
  • Responsible for promoting Lambeth's growth agenda including initiatives to create new homes and jobs that benefit town centres, neighbourhoods and the community as a whole

Key Responsibilities

  • As our Programme Manager for Capital Feasibility you will be instrumental in establishing long-term delivery strategy and feasibility for our dynamic capital and regeneration programmes
  • This will include schools, new housing, estates and other regeneration, accommodation and community programmes.
  • You'll see projects through from the start as you manage budgets, develop proposals while you enable assessment of options and investment priorities
  • You will need to bring together important elements like master planning surveys, technical assessment, design proposals, timescale costings and preliminary assessment of outcomes.

  • As our Programme Manager for Capital Programming you will manage and co-ordinate the commercial, contractual, development, feasibility and progress tracking for our dynamic capital and regeneration programme
  • Assisting the Delivery Lead for Capital Programmes, as well as the Director and Programme Director you'll ensure that all projects are delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget
  • A key deliverable within this role is to create a centre of excellence by constantly striving for improvement across the teams involved in the regeneration programme
  • You will need to be a good 'people' person as you will need to share good working practices across the organization, making advice readily available to all teams, as well as supporting them by networking and acting as a conduit

Key Requirements

  • We're looking for someone to bring substantial experience working in a senior role within construction/regeneration/commercial/programme management
  • You'll have previous experience working on development/construction/regeneration programmes within a framework of collaborative working
  • You'll have a successful track record in managing people and a strong interest in the technical aspects of the programme
  • This exciting role encompasses programme delivery planning but experience of commercial management would also be very beneficial.
  • It is likely you are a qualified project manager, planner, commercial manager or quantity surveyor with a high level of experience in programme planning and monitoring. An ability to see the wider strategic picture would also be an asset.
